Creating Connections. Overcoming Obstacles. Reinforcing Resilience.

Fairway Forward is a community-based mental health initiative that helps reduce barriers between recognizing a need for support and accessing professional care.

Through a partnership between The Clubhouse and Nipissing Counselling Solutions, Fairway Forward creates funded opportunities for people to connect with professional mental health support through Range Therapy.

The First Step Is Often the Hardest

Many people who could benefit from professional mental health support never take the first step.

Cost, stigma, uncertainty, concerns about judgment, previous experiences, and discomfort with traditional clinical settings can all delay or prevent access to care. Fairway Forward was created to lessen this gap.

The program provides an approachable pathway into professional care while using community investment to reduce financial and practical barriers.

Creating a More Approachable First Step

Fairway Forward may be especially helpful for people who:

  • Are considering counselling for the first time
  • Feel uncertain about what therapy involves
  • Are uncomfortable beginning in a traditional clinical environment
  • Are concerned about cost
  • Have delayed seeking support because of stigma or fear of judgment
  • Work in cultures where vulnerability or help-seeking may feel difficult
  • Would benefit from a private, welcoming, non-clinical entry point

The program may be particularly relevant to men, first responders, public safety personnel, military members, veterans, athletes, students, and others who have historically faced barriers to accessing mental health services. Fairway Forward is is not restricted to these populations.

Access Should Be Simple

No physician referral is required.

No formal diagnosis is required.

No proof of financial hardship is required.

No previous golf experience is required.

When funding is available, eligible participants may choose to use funded sessions. Participants may also access Range Therapy through extended health benefits, eligible government or occupational benefit programs, other funding sources, or self-payment. Funded opportunities are subject to program capacity, participating clinician availability, and clinical appropriateness for the setting.

Built Through Community Partnership

Fairway Forward and Range Therapy are made possible through a collaborative partnership between The Clubhouse and Nipissing Counselling Solutions. These contributions allow Range Therapy to operate sustainably while Fairway Forward expands access through community support.

Community funding does not determine whether Range Therapy exists, but it does determine how many barriers Fairway Forward can remove and how many access opportunities can be created.

Help Remove a Barrier

Every contribution to Fairway Forward creates more opportunities for people to connect with professional mental health support.

Community partners can support the program through:

  • Direct financial contributions
  • Sponsorship of funded-access sessions
  • Organizational initiatives
  • Community grants
  • In-kind contributions
  • Awareness and referral partnerships
  • Collaborative fundraising

Community investment may help fund up to three access opportunities for an individual, depending on available resources and program capacity.

Although Fairway Forward does not replace existing mental health services, it does create another pathway into them. Its goal is not to create definite subsidized therapy but to help someone begin, make a meaningful connection, and establish a path into appropriate ongoing care.

Responsible, Measurable Community Impact

Fairway Forward evaluates impact using aggregate measures such as:

  • Number of people accessing services
  • Number of funded sessions delivered
  • Use of available program capacity
  • Number of participants connected with ongoing support
  • Community awareness and demand
  • Growth in partnership and investment opportunities

Participant privacy remains paramount. No personal health information or identifying clinical information is collected by or reported to The Clubhouse, sponsors, donors, or community partners.
