Amelia Rising provides free, confidential support for people 12 years of age and older who have experienced sexual and/or gender-based violence. The Centre provides services including individual and group counselling, advocacy, community contact navigation, accompaniment to hospital or police station, educational workshops, and individual support for partners, families, and friends of survivors. The Centre also operates a 24-hour crisis line (705-476-3355) offering support and assistance by trained individuals for anyone who has been affected by sexual violence or for anyone looking to support someone in crisis.r those who are currently supporting a survivor of sexual and/or gender-based violence. During support sessions we can provide information and support for partners, families and friends of survivors.
This service is available to all Indigenous people across Canada. Experienced and culturally competent counsellors are reachable 24/7 in English and French. Scheduled telephone support is also available in Cree, Ojibway (Anishinaabemowin), and Inuktitut is also available.
This helpline serves all youth and specifically responds to needs of Black youth. It is positioned and resourced to promote access to professional, culturally appropriate support for youth, families and schools. Services provided are driven by the callers' expressed needs.
Provided by the North Bay Regional Health Centre, this 24/7 hotline and in-person crisis outreach program provides immediate crisis assessment, intervention, referrals, and follow-up. Eligibility for these services require individuals to have an onset of emotional disturbance/situational distress involving a sudden breakdown of their ability to cope.
Partnering with the Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Mental Health Association offers a crisis response team consisting of a nurse/social worker and a police officer to respond to mental health and substance use-related calls. Its goal is to divert the crisis and alleviate emergency services to relieve systemic pressure. The response is available to anyone within the OPP catchment area and all referrals go through calls to OPP dispatch.
The Canadian Mental Health Association offers 24/7 support for individuals, agencies, and emergencies. Experts in mental health, addiction, and suicide intervention are available to help with stability, coping, and resources navigation. This service is confidential except when imminent risks are identified and there is a need for emergency service or further intervention.
This service from Hands The Family Help Network provides comprehensive client-centred, professional, and skilled services to infants, children, youth, families, and adults with a developmental disability, that address social, emotional, behavioural, physical, and developmental difficulties. Other services available include positive parenting groups and autism programs.
West Nipissing Alliance Centre's Crisis Intervention Program offers telephone or face-to-face contact for persons seeking immediate relief from symptoms of emotional and/or situational distress which affect their ability to cope. Services include assessment and crisis counselling as well as liaison, client advocacy, and referral to community agencies when appropriate.
Kids Help Phone’s non-judgmental, inclusive services are available to young people across Canada. Young people can receive support for anything on their mind (including bullying and abuse, friends and family, and emotional wellbeing) but legal and medical advice are not directly offered. Adults contacting Kids Help Phone will be assisted in getting the support they need but they should text 741741 to connect with a trained, volunteer crisis responder.
This service connects callers with trained volunteers aged 16-29 who come from 2SLGBTQ+ identities and lived experiences. Its peer supporters are not counsellors, but peers who can relate to 2SLGBTQ+ youth and we have been trained in active listening and relevant knowledge such as anti-oppression, anti-racism, sex and consent, STIs, HIV, self-care, and more. Common things discussed include, gender identity, sexual orientation, coming out, mental health, relationships, and social isolation. Services are confidential and anonymous.
Children and youth up to 18 years of age can instantly connect with a therapist, develop a plan to move forward and feel better, and be referred to ongoing supports. Caregivers can also connect to receive advice on supporting their child.
